Working for Peace : No one can deny this is the answer of our living world!

Even though some time has already passed, whenever I hear the word "peace", there is a ringing in my heart.
 
A few weeks ago, I visted the U.N Memorial Park with my children.
 We were walking around here and there when we saw a large crowd gathered in one area.

People of various races, color and nations along with a magnificent band were preparing some parade.  And there was one man proclaiming peace on the podium.

Honestly speaking, the idea of peace is something we are all familiar with, but it never really struck a chord with me.  Peace was always vague and distant.

Our world is suffering everyday from wars and oppression, yet the reality is that we just watch these incidents
as if they were some fire accident occuring across the street.  

The speech I happened to hear by chance that afternoon still lingers in my heart.

The truth is, there are many people in the world who work for peace and many who have won awards for their efforts towards peace.
Yet, there is not one place on this earth where peace exists.

The speaker urged the importance of those working for peace to be united as one.  There is no you and me, high and low- we must all work together as one.

This statement really made a strong impression in my heart.

I'm Catholic and even though the person next to me is Muslim, if we truly became one there would be no reason to fight for religious reasons.  And I also
realized that there would be no reason to criticize and point fingers at each other.


The reason why we couldn't become united as one was because we were so busy claiming that MY religion was the best.  As a result, rather than achieving peace we have
been living in a world with unending violence and wars.

The speaker's words, that it is our duty to end wars so that we can leave peace as an inheritance to our descendants, remains in my ears.

It felt as if all people of the world were gathered together in the U.N. Memorial Cemetery.

Through the voices and every motion of the people gathered on that day, I can feel the deep longing and desperation for peace.

Even though the crowd was shouting for peace in their own respective languages, they became one through their gestures and no one could deny their sincerity.

They were all holding signs with words displaying their longing for peace written in their own languages.

Have you seen their joyful expressions as they participated in the Peace Walk(IPYG Peace walk)?

Regardless of age, race and gender, everyone became one that day as they shouted their yearning for peace in one voice.

It was an event that I happened to come across by chance, but I'm so thankful and blessed to have participated.

It made me think that, the confident and resounding voice proclaiming peace on the podium along with the large crowd united as one,
is what true peace is.

It was an unforgettable moment that made me realize that true peace will be possible when all people set aside their differences and become one.

WAR: What is it good for?

What comes to mind when you hear the word "war"?  Pain, suffering, death, violence...
Honestly, war is somewhat vague for me because I've never personally experienced a war during
my lifetime.  I've been so blessed to live in a country that is safe.  Now that I think about, safety is something
that I take for granted.  It's something that I believe is so obvious.
Before I became familiar with IPYG,
I had no interest nor did I have any idea what was going on in the world around me. 
When I was living in the U.S., I had several friends who were sent to Afghanistan as soliders.
They were just teenagers, no more than 20 years old.
I heard countless stories of how their friends were killed
during their short time in the Middle East.  For WHAT did they die?
And what about the families of the
young soldiers killed during duty?
 Who will compensate them for the loss of their beloved son?  No amount
of money could ever make up for the death of these young soldiers.  They were mere children.
Look at this photo.  They should be playing soccer or drawing pictures of dogs and cats. 
Why are these young children holding
such viscious weapons?  Were they born merely to fight in a meaningless war and eventually to die?  No. 
This is why I respect IPYG so much.  For a long time, many have talked about this issue and acknowledged
the need for change.  However, IPYG has taken action to turn our hopes into a reality.

IPGY has shown us that
peace is possible and that a world without war, a world without the death of young lives is possible.
Let's join hands with IPYG and create a world where young people no longer have to be killed in pointless wars.

What does peace mean to me?

Someday I thought, “What does peace mean to me?”

Everybody seems to have a different ideas of what peace is. Many sources define peace as the description of a society where there was neither war nor social unrest. What is peace to me? What defines peace, and what are you willing to sacrifice for it?

World peace is a wonderful thought but I didn’t think we’ll ever see it. So, I described what peace means to me in my life. To me, peace is a feeling of calm, warm, satisfaction and the feeling that all is well in my world, my family, and my work.

Jimmy carter said, “Peace is more than the absence of war. There is an inner peace that comes from personal security and personal freedom. Peace also includes the sense of a mother and father that children will live, that they’ll have food for them to eat, and that they won’t be subject to a lifetime of suffering that could have been prevented.” He had been awarded novel peace prize at 2002. Many people including him feel and know keenly the necessity of peace, however, they couldn’t suggest an alternative which is method of world peace.

Few month ago, I was happy to contact the international peace youth group (IPYG) because of participating in peace activity with effective and realizable method. IPYG’s motto is to create a lasting change in the world through our passion and desire to see peace-loving citizens in every nation and a united world youth.

Since I met IPYG, my thought about peace is changed and broaden. Peace is the absence of war, not only between nations but also between personal, and nothing should have to be sacrificed for it such as youth, it should come naturally.

 

2014 FIFA WORLD CUP BRASIL, Big World Festival is getting under way on June

The World Cup of the big world festival is getting under way on June.
The World Cup is played every four years. As you know, the World Cup is the event the brought harmony and unity to people even though we are different cultures, boarder, races and  all ages.
So thirty two top national teams from around the world play to see which is the world’s champion.
The 2014 World Cup that is held in Brazil is already expectation who will win.
IPYG is says to become one named peace as the world cup that is all come together with soccer.
To become one all together, IPYG also holds Victory Cup as sports event.
IPYG is works to peace with each country’s youth members through the variety of different sports not only soccer, but also basketball and cricket etc.
We need to interest in world peace all together.
I wish world peace come true quickly as possible.
Also, I wish all of the athletes who will play in the World Cup do their best and hope to play without injury.

IPYG, Effort to Recovery of Human Dignity

I was so pleased and happy to get to know IPYG, International Peace Youth Group.
I  am so excited  that we can leave a peace to our next generation and be a peace maker!

 I had seen a video about the evils of war.
A documentary reporter had taken that video when he had been in the war place.
 There was a boy who didn’t eat a piece of apples but went to a corner.
 The reporter was curious so chased him.
 He could see a dying baby with a too swollen  stomach unusually for the famine.
The boy went to his younger brother and gave an apple to him.
 Though he was starved, he wanted to save his dying brother.

 We know that war violates human dignity and leaves only sacrifices of youth and kids.
 The chairman of IPYG claims that Why is young life thrown away without having had a chance to bloom because of war?”

How nice the words are!
 I agree to their request that the head of every country should sign an international agreement to bring all wars to an end.
 He says We can be one in one truth, before one God,  and make a world peace. We can join in his peaceful movement! I certainly believe it is our mission as a youth in the world!

IPYG for Peace, the mission for our dreams!

What do think about peace?
Someone said 'peace is healthy state to conduct and establish something' .
in other  words, peace can be refered to possibility to fulfill human's specific dreams.
But all over the world, who can dream a dream getting aside few people.
Many of people are at risk of massacre and genocide.
The tragedy happened in this time. We are very sad to watch those videos.
Orphans remains. The poor children weep beside their dead parents.
Oh it is heartaching sadness.
IPYG was born notwithstanding this tragedy of the world.
IPYG has courage to have direct contact with former and current presidents all over the world.
Morever the chairman toured around the world 10 times in order to meet terrified youth intimately.
So 270 youth groups are currently affiliated with IPYG.
Who can argue the cause of international war?
Who can tour around the world to seek refuge and descarded people all over the world.
I am proud of Korea.
Because we were afflicted under historical hardships but we can afford to embrace and understand by our chairman.
Our chair man has ingredients to fulfill peace all over the world.

What is IPYG & Why am I joined IPYG?

I am one of the youth
who wants to live with happiness. So When I was a university students
I experienced a lot regarding helping poor and elders because I thought that was the most worthy and I will be happy helping the poor.
But there was no hope anymore.
I felt so empty even if
I have done those things.
That was why I changed my major from volunteering to the peace and conflict of humen.
However,even this major also there was no any conclusion. I really worked hard to get full happiness but as always so far the truth love seemed never come true. That time I got one so precious calling from one Peace youth group,IPYG which is International peace youth group. Actually  I have many experiences about many organizations and I already joined many , too.
So, that time I felt IPYG also just another normal organization which has no solution for the world peace. But they were totally different. They have strong minded for World peace and this members of IPYG were so energetic and have very warm hearted for anyone in the world. They have more than 250 organization partners in 75 different countries with them.
They proclaimed that they just want this world to be in full of happiness, true love  and peace. I have not really known about other countries and people. But this IPYG has gathered all people in the whole world.
And I could know and started to care about all other country's members and the thing there are too many who are in danger.
I asked to the member of IPYG like this below.
Then how can I help them who are in charge?
I am just one youth not a politicians or anyone who has a high fame.
But I love your desire for world peace by wanting for nothing.
Then they answered through this question like this.
If you really long for a peace ao far, no matter what is your position is of course you can join working for peace and added more.
The world peace is not just for one person. This is for everyone's right and responsibility so we all must join to be a peace activitist each of us.
This answer hit my head and one thought came in my head.
We all actually really had to be peace activists. Then,we haven't thought about this and why we have been fought so far? What for?
In the world there are too many tregedy and cruel events happen everyday.
We absolutely needed to bring the truth peace.
However, there were no exact answer for this question.
Really amazinglly, IPYG had the answer for the sincere love and peace.
I will be also one of the members for peace and want to be as a partner with IPYG. They are awesome youths. I do respect their own ideas.
